Born on February 10, 1953, in Cleveland Ohio, Michael D’Elia’s inspiration to be a performer came early in his life. Michael started singing and playing drums at 8 years old. He started playing different venues at 13 when he formed his own band. At 16 he joined the Musician’s Union. His talent led to a scholarship for music to Memphis State. However, the road called and he started touring with bands in the early 70’s. Michael returned from the road in the mid 70’s where he started playing with area bands and has played locally for over 40 years.

D’Elias soulful vocals and phenomenal drumming has “wowed” audiences from coast to coast. His extraordinary drumming and vocal talent demands him to be the “go to” guy for filling in for such diverse bands such as: Frankie Starr, Armstrong Bearcat, The Stokes Brothers, Mr. Downchild, Blues DeVille, Funk N Stuff, Vibrogroove, Logan Wells, Blues Casters, The Sparkplugz, Tracy Marie, The Bad Boys of Blues and Running with the Pack to name a few.

Once in a great while a musician comes along who not only is a drummer of a band, but also sings the lead vocals and is the inspiration of the band. Michael’s vocal style is influenced by Muddy Waters, BB King, Wilson Pickett, Buddy Miles and his drumming has been influenced by Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Ringo Starr, Mitch Mitchell and all the Motown and Stax records drummers.

Michael’s passion for music led to his creation of his current band Daddy Sweet Roll, a mix of classic and original blues and R&B music. The band carries rhythm and blues to a new dimension. Daddy Sweet Roll’s live performances and wild attack on his drums has audiences always clamoring for more and has created a huge fan base around the area.

Daddy Sweet Roll has enlisted great multi-talented local musicians, who all fill-in for his band including: Billy Mangano, bass; Erol Sommer, bass and vocals; Jack Hrusch, bass; Richie Green, guitar and vocals; Denny Massari, Guitar and vocals; Bubba (Greg) Sarley, guitar and vocals; Big Daddy (Gary Kraft), harmonica and vocals; Randy Moroz, organ, trombone and vocals; Rich Klan, guitar; and Gina Renadli, percussion.

Daddy Sweet Roll is currently recording a CD of original songs.
